From Co-Parenting to Family: A Reunification Success Story!

Amanda, a local mom, shares, "At our first meeting, I figured Nichole (foster parent) would be like others who would judge my life and choices. But little by little with each conversation I got to know that she understood my trauma and I soon began to feel the love she had for all my children and me. The day my boys came home, I told her she wasn't finished with the boys yet. All these years later we are still parenting these boys and have gone from co-parenting to family."

One of our local foster caregivers, Nichole, recalls her experience, "Amanda and I began our co-parenting journey in 2015. Simple hellos and sharing in [the boys'] experiences in her life and in mine. Allowing phone calls, supervising visits, and being a support to her on rough days eventually earned her reunification in 2016. To this day, I’m still the boys bonus mom, and I still get to take part in their lives, such as JROTC competitions and welcoming our first grandbaby! Just over seven years after reunification, I still get to be a part and both of our families are blessed by co-parenting!"

The power of co-parenting is when foster and biological parents work together to nurture, guide and love a child throughout their journey of life. There is no such thing as "too many" caring adults in a child's life.
