The Circuit 10 Behavior Analysis Services Program is administered by the University of Florida and is locally affiliated with Heartland for Children, the Circuit 10 lead Community Based Care Agency. The Behavior Analysis Services Program (BASP) provides behavioral support services to foster, biological, relative &|| non-relative caregivers who parent dependent children with challenging behaviors. BASP provides in-home and classroom based behavioral support services designed to reduce child problem behaviors by teaching caregivers skills to increase child appropriate behaviors. The program utilizes a learning model whose focus is to work with caregivers to rearrange the home environment to teach children new skills and appropriate behaviors to replace problem behaviors.
Classroom based services include a 15 and a 30 hour course titled Tools for Positive Behavior Change. The course teaches caregivers sets of \"Tools\" to respond to child problem behavior which based on behavioral research data, have proven effective in producing positive behavior change. The courses are taught by board certified behavior analysts and are offered in Lakeland, Lake Wales, Wauchula and Sebring. The course is free and childcare is provided.
Home based services are provided by board certified behavior analysts who conduct functional assessments of child behavior and work with the caregiver to implement an individualized behavior intervention plan. The plan may include modifications of the Tools for those caregivers who are enrolled or have completed the course.
